the only thing that’s missing...
How do you capture the essence of a song? I created this piece while reflecitng on the song “(s)Ain’t” by Marilyn Manson, one of my favorite performing artists.
Manson and I share a lot of similar experiences; each of us grew up in an ultra-conservative charismatic church that spewed visions of damnation and judgement.
Throughout my life, I’ve struggled to live to the ideals cast from pulpits. I’m me. The good, bad, and ugly. When I realized there was no such thing as salvation, I found my own rebirth and freedom by ditching the proverbial “S” from my attempts at perfection.
We’re all beautiful disasterpieces. That’s the wonderful part of life.
I got an F and a C, and I’ve got a K, too…
