Engagement

“Of course the game is rigged. Don’t let that stop you–if you don’t play, you can’t win.”

How nice it would be if we had something, anything, we could devote our entire lives to. Yes, yes, I know many of us would have the claim that our lives are being devoted towards people, goals, and visions at any given point in our day. However, I can only begin to imagine what it must feel like to boldly proclaim “Give me liberty or give me death!” and knowing full well the ramifications such a statement of proclamation would bequeath to the brave soul who dared to utter it. There must be an incredible peace running through the veins of the individual who lays down their life for something or somebody they believe in.

See, in the moment of a crisis, two different kinds of people are born; leaders and victims. When two individuals are presented with a situation that may appear to be less than optimal, one takes the opportunity to stash their poor circumstances behind the mask of being a victim, while the leader takes these circumstances and utilizes them to his/her advantage, pulling far ahead of those who choose to drown in their sorrows. When other people take precious time to lick their wounds, a natural window is created for those who rise to the occasion as leaders.

Those two paragraphs could easily be their own blogs. However, it’s not really something I can write at this moment. There’s been a lot on my mind this weekend and it’s been fairly difficult for me to spit everything out.

More later.
