burning heart

SCROLL

Cold and dark, the morning has proven itself to be a long one. Saying goodbye is hard…harder than I thought it would be. While we rarely say “goodbye” and often say “see you soon” the sting of saying goodbye is still fresh in my heart. The hug that wasn’t quite long enough, shared during the dark hours of a cold Baltimore moment.

I used to think I had quite the handle on life; having it all figured out and seeming to think I knew what direction was up, down, left, right. I was quite wrong. Wrong about many things, people, places, and glittery opportunities. Not all that glitters is gold. Not all that is good is right.

Wanting – no, yearning – to do the impossible with everything your heart desires. It’s rare to find an individual with whom you can spend the good, as well as the bad, times with. Even Ramen would seem like a kings feast. Minus the seasoning, of course.

I had an experience – or several – that rocked my entire world. Looking at particular places, people, scenes, and events…I used to have an opinion based on these things that was the complete opposite of where I stand now. I never thought myself to be a hateful person. But, I’m realizing just how many things in my life I’ve turned down because the remnants of my inner struggles would bleed their infectious poison out into other aspects of my life.

To love…there is no greater thing. Period. It’s what can turn those $0.19 packs of Ramen noodles into the perfect feast.

I’ve had to ask myself if I have it within me to have the type of unconditional love that would push somebody in a wheelchair if they were to get into a paralyzing car accident…or to hold hands with each other as we are both being pushed in wheelchairs due to our old age…

Wanting to reach an old age with somebody because you know that both of you have shared pure and unrestricted love, with each day getting ever better because you can share the sunset and sunrise with them, just once more.

Dusty desert roads. Cracked amplifiers pouring out a call to attention and a royal start to the day.

Just one more. Stop the car.
