It’s 2019 and I find myself, once again, in New York City. It’s been ten years since I (briefly) lived here. The city has an essence that can’t be compared to any city in the world. Her skies reach high with concrete monuments, glistening in the winter air with their floor-to-ceiling windows. Manhattan.

At the age of 31, I’m very fortunate to have lived in several major cities. Columbus, New York City, Dallas, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Portland have been places I’ve called ‘home’ – wherever the hell that is.

Over the last three weeks, I’ve revisited several of these places (LA, Dallas, OH, NYC) to spend time in reflection, with the people I love. As I recap, in Manhattan, I’m sitting in the moment I traveled all this way to find; contentment.

When I was 19, I watched my Father pass away. I never could have imagined the event would have shaped my life in such a powerful way; blowing to pieces the ideas/plans I had for my life. Eleven years later, I’m thankful my plans weren’t destroyed, but replaced by something far better than I anticipated.

Instead of carrying a burden of needing to figure things out, I now see a path laid ahead of me, which only requires I walk forward and participate in the day-to-day events that continue to unfold.

In 2019, I can’t even begin to count my blessings. Life has treated me abundantly well and every day continues to reveal new surprises. It’s the little things that matter; like an abundance of hummus (kalamata, specifically) and time to reflect on life’s joys.

Next, LA…
