How does the color orange feel during a thunderstorm?

What is the favorite memory of the sound of music?

What color is the song of electric guitars?

The above three questions are written in proper grammatical form. However, they’re utter nonsense and hold no meaning aside from being an example of how sneaky a lot of messaging in the world is these days.

Even devout study and fervence studying a ‘real’ thing can result in a zero-sum benefit for your life.

For example, you can spend an entire lifetime studying the nutritional value of carnival food, without ever getting healthier. In the same respect, one can spend an entire lifetime studying theology without ever having a meaningful connection wtih God.

There’s a tremendous amount of information on the internet these days, freely accessible and within reach for a majority of the world now having access to the world wide web (there’s a phrase GenZ won’t understand).

These days, anything is within reach. For years, MIT has offered its classes freely online – sans accreditation. However, I’ve never met anybody (myself included) who has taken the university up on its offering of free education. Inversely, I’ve met far more seemingly-educated individuals who can speak volumes on topics such as alien abductions or secret societies in America.

Years ago, I taught a group of high school students at a church. Each week, I’d jokingly tell them they were going to learn about ‘Practical Life Applications And Truths’ – often through study of the Bible, teaching of Jesus – or my own experiences leading up to my 20’s.

“Practical Life Application” is an important filter to pass knowledge and information through. Yet, it’s oftentime far easier to consume information without ever asking the simple question:

“How does this benefit my life?”

There are an infinite number of rabbit holes that can trap your mind, time and emotions without ever doing a single bit of ‘good’ in your life. In other cases, the line can be a bit harder to find; studying the rules of tennis won’t improve your serve, yet might help you win your next match.

“And Truth” is another missing element in most messaging and causes these days. There have been 351 mass shootings in 2025 so far. Yet, the U.S. media often cherry-picks the cases that support whatever narrative it is they’re promoting, for example.

Would it be beneficial to do a deep-dive of every mass shooting that happens each year? I don’t think so, any more than it was beneficial for the masses to be glued to their television sets watching the ‘submarine tragedy’.

Many would be thriled to have an extra $1,000 in their bank account. A recent study in Forbes showed that 28% of Americans have less than 1k in their savings account. About 10% of America watched the final season of Game of Thrones. The entire series lasted over 70 hours; nearly two weeks of full-time work for most.

We’re told to ‘make the most of our time, for the days are evil’ in the Bible. Time is one of the rarest commodies we have access to – and the easiest one to give away.

How do you break the cycle of wasted time, energy and resources? By taking your life back, one episode at a time.
