Ft. It All

SCROLL

This weekend, I had the opportunity to see my younger brother, Mark, march triumphantly into manhood. There are many others who accidentally fall into it, or slowly understand what it means, over time, thus becoming more of a man with each growing day. However, it was incredible to watch as Mark rose to the challenge of becoming the top recruit of his Navy class of over 900 people. There’s not a doubt in my mind that he pushed himself through blood, sweat, and sickness (Steurtjes never cry) to rise to the top and receive the U.S. Navy Military Excellence Award, recognizing the top recruit of a graduating class.

As his older brother, I am proud of his accomplishment(s). Mark has continued to show the world what it means to be a man of God, champion, and Plaat.

Mark, I am so proud of who you are, who you are becoming, and your dedication to excellence. You’ve truly set the bar very high and your life has and will give others the freedom to pursue the goals they never once thought possible. You are a warrior who does not know the meaning of “quit” nor will you ever live a life that is dictated by what others have said you can or cannot do. You continue to seek God with your whole heart, mind, and strength. You are, and continue to be, the strongest and best man I know.
