I’ve found that artwork can be very one-dimensional when viewed without context. What changed my perception of art was when I saw a piece and was able to connect with the story of the artist.
That being said, this is my favorite piece of artwork that I’ve created to date.
It’s about a woman. The woman.
The left side of the canvas shows her body, while the right side shows part of her face, each eye covered.
The left eye is covered by a faint infinity symbol, intersected by a vertical white line which spans the length of the canvas. This is to symbolize the eternal connection one finds in love, as well as the inner faith of knowing the day will happen —- in time.
The right side of the face is covered by blue/red. Blue is symbolic of the sweetness she carries, while red is her fire.
Between the face and the body is a collection of white shapes/dots. I used these to show the beauty of the divine spirit; separate from face/body.
This piece is my favorite because every time I view it, it stirs up emotion in me. I see the spirit, energy, and beauty of both woman and the divine feminine.
